Why Culver City Calls Us

The Smart Fix for Condo and Apartment Bathrooms

Fox Hills condos, the apartment buildings along Sepulveda and Washington, and newer townhomes near Playa Vista were largely built with molded fiberglass or acrylic tub-shower enclosures. They are light and watertight when new, but after 15–30 years the gelcoat dulls and yellows, the floor flexes and cracks, and stains stop coming out.

Because these units go in before the drywall, replacement is a construction project: the enclosure is cut apart, the walls are opened, and a plumber and drywall contractor are needed before the new unit can go in. Reglazing repairs and refinishes the existing enclosure in a single day, which is why Culver City property managers call us first.

  • One-piece and multi-piece fiberglass and acrylic units
  • Soft or cracked floors reinforced and repaired
  • Spider cracks, holes and chips fixed
  • Yellowed or chalky gelcoat restored to gloss
  • Color change to bright white
  • No drywall, framing or plumbing work
What's Included

How We Repair and Reglaze Fiberglass Enclosures

Fiberglass needs a different prep than porcelain. Here is what makes our enclosure work last.

Floor reinforcement

If the tub floor flexes underfoot, we drill small access holes and inject an expanding structural foam or resin to support the base, then seal the holes. A reglazed floor that still flexes will crack, so we never skip this.

Fiberglass repair

Cracks and holes are ground out, filled with fiberglass cloth and resin, and sanded smooth. Repairs are invisible once coated.

Gelcoat preparation

The entire unit is scuff-sanded and chemically cleaned, then primed with an adhesion promoter designed for fiberglass and acrylic.

Finish

Three to four sprayed coats of urethane give the walls, tub and floor a uniform high-gloss finish. An optional non-slip texture can be added to the tub floor. Ready for use in 24 hours.

2-Year Written Warranty

This service is covered by our 2-year written warranty against peeling, bubbling and adhesion failure. Kitchen sinks are the one exception: they carry a 6-month warranty because of the heavy daily use they take. Full terms are on our Terms of Service page.

Fiberglass Enclosure Reglazing FAQs

What is a fiberglass bathtub enclosure?

A one-piece or multi-piece molded unit that combines the tub and the surrounding walls, usually fiberglass or acrylic over a fiberglass backing. They are common in Culver City condos, apartments and 1970s–90s homes, and in additions and ADUs.

Can a cracked fiberglass tub floor be fixed?

Yes. Soft or cracked floors are the most common fiberglass problem. We inject a structural filler to firm up the base, repair the crack with fiberglass and resin, then reglaze the whole unit so the repair is invisible.

Why not just replace the enclosure?

One-piece enclosures are installed before the walls are finished, so removing one usually means cutting it into pieces, opening up drywall, and sometimes reframing the alcove. Reglazing avoids all of that and costs a fraction as much.

Does the finish hold up on fiberglass and acrylic?

Yes, when the gelcoat is properly sanded and primed. Our coating is formulated for fiberglass and acrylic and is backed by the same 2-year warranty as our cast iron tub work.

Can you change the color of a fiberglass enclosure?

Yes. Almond, bone, harvest gold and dark blue enclosures are routinely updated to bright white.

How long does it take?

Most enclosures take one day on site, including crack repair. The unit is ready for use 24 hours after we finish.
