Technician reglazing pink mid-century bathroom tile walls white in Culver City
Why Culver City Calls Us

Mid-Century Tile Is Culver City's Signature. Reglazing Modernizes It.

Walk through Sunkist Park, Carlson Park or Blair Hills and you will find bathrooms tiled in the original 1950s pastels: pink, mint green, baby blue, yellow and maroon trim. The tile is often in excellent structural condition; it is just the wrong color for today's buyers, renters and homeowners.

Tearing out wall tile means demolition down to the studs, new backer board, waterproofing and a tile setter, which runs well into five figures for a full bathroom. Tile reglazing coats the existing tile and grout in a new color in a single day, and it is fully reversible if a future owner wants the original look.

What's Included

Tile Walls vs. Tile Floors

Walls and floors are both reglazed, but floors take foot traffic, grit and standing water, so we treat them differently.

Tile walls and surrounds

Walls are the ideal reglazing surface. After cleaning, etching and repairs, three to four sprayed coats produce a seamless, glossy finish that reads as new tile from across the room. Most full bathrooms are done in one day.

Tile floors

For floors we use a harder, more abrasion-resistant topcoat and recommend a fine non-slip texture for wet areas. Rugs and bath mats without rubber backing are fine after the first week. Floors are walkable in 24 hours and reach full hardness in about a week.

Color options

Bright white and soft off-whites are the most popular, but we can match almost any solid color, including keeping the original shade and simply restoring the gloss. Two-tone jobs (white walls with a contrasting floor) are common.

2-Year Written Warranty

This service is covered by our 2-year written warranty against peeling, bubbling and adhesion failure. Kitchen sinks are the one exception: they carry a 6-month warranty because of the heavy daily use they take. Full terms are on our Terms of Service page.

Reglazing vs. Replacement

Tile Reglazing FAQs

Can tile really be reglazed instead of replaced?

Yes. Ceramic and porcelain tile is etched, primed and sprayed with a urethane coating that bonds to the glaze and bridges the grout lines. It is the standard way to update colored mid-century tile without demolition.

Do you reglaze tile floors as well as walls?

Yes. Bathroom floors, shower floors and small entry or laundry floors are reglazed with a harder-wearing coating and an optional non-slip texture. Large high-traffic floors are evaluated case by case.

What happens to the grout lines?

Grout is cleaned, missing sections are replaced, and the coating seals over the grout. The lines remain visible as texture but become the same color as the tile and no longer absorb water or stains.

How long does tile reglazing last?

With non-abrasive cleaning, reglazed tile walls routinely last many years. All tile work is covered by our 2-year written warranty.

Can I keep my original tile color but just fix the chips and dull spots?

Yes. We can color-match the existing tile, repair chips and cracked pieces, and recoat for a uniform glossy finish. This is a popular option for homeowners who love their vintage tile.

How long will my bathroom be out of service?

A typical tub surround or full bathroom wall job takes one day. Walls can be touched after 24 hours; floors are walkable after 24 hours and fully cured in a few days.
